About

Brilliantly Boring

Macrospect was founded with a clear belief: finance systems should serve people, not the other way around. For more than two decades, we’ve partnered with CFOs, FP&A leaders, and controllers to solve complex planning and consolidation challenges using SAP Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) technologies. Our focus isn’t just on implementation; it’s delivering reliable outcomes to finance leaders so they can gain clarity where it counts and plan with confidence.

Leadership

Randy Marvel headshot

Randy Marvel

Chief Executive Officer

A former baseball player and honors student at Texas Christian University, Randy Marvel ultimately faced a choice: put his degree to work in the real world or miraculously develop a 90-mph fastball. The laws of physics — and his entrepreneurial instincts — led him to choose the former, and baseball’s loss became the IT world’s gain.

As CEO of Macrospect, Randy guides the company’s operations, strategic planning, and sales and marketing efforts. Under the leadership of Randy and Co-Founder Jeff Hattendorf, Macrospect has earned recognition as one of Inc. Magazine’s “500 Fastest-Growing Private Companies.”

Prior to forming Macrospect, Randy and Hattendorf built the tech services company AIVIA from seed funding into a 125-person organization with nine offices across the U.S., before successfully selling the company in 2002.

Randy is a frequent guest speaker at industry conferences and earned his MBA in Finance from TCU, graduating with honors.

As COO and Co-Founder of Macrospect, Jeff oversees every client engagement and plays an instrumental role in helping clients gain clarity where it counts most. His industry experience includes financial services, oil and gas, transportation, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and technology, to name a few.

A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and the TCU M.J. Neeley School of Business, Jeff is a former National Merit Scholar, current member of Mensa, and frequent guest panelist, speaker, and commentator on all things SAP.

Director of FP&A

I can now gather our worldwide currency exposure data in a matter of minutes instead of hours. We have an earlier view of our currency exposures, and the data is much easier for us to analyze. So we are better able to manage the impact of exchange rate fluctuations on our company.

Bob Rifkin
Financial Reporting Manager Texas Instruments

Budget and timeline accuracy were very important to us. Macrospect has a well-established system for tracking workstreams; we knew they could deliver what they promised.
